Rationale of the Program
Language has always been more than simply a medium of communication throughout human history. It remains a source of knowledge, a target of scientific exploration, a tool for critical thinking and creative expression. Hence, the need of a doctorate program in language studies is imperative and the scope of PhD English program remains vast and expansive. It covers both the scientific and the artistic aspects of language and their relationship with each other. The scientific study of language is done in PhD Linguistics, while PhD English Literature covers the artistic and aesthetic aspects of language and language use.
